So, I told you that when I went to interview at L’Academie de Cuisine last October I was warned that students gain 20 pounds during their first three months of school, keep that weight on during the next three months, and then lose it once they start working in their externship. This information has been heavily weighing on me (pun intended) since that time, and I have tried to put a plan in place to prevent much of that weight gain. My plan is to bring my breakfast to school and try to have a light dinner since the bulk of my calories are going to be consumed during lunch, which the culinary students prepare, and sampling our pastry products. We can’t bring any of the food home with us, so at least once I am home I am not tempted by all of the goodies we are making! I have also created a rigorous workout schedule of exercise classes, such as pilates, yoga and barre, which I attend four times a week, and cardio sessions on two out of three of the remaining days. Plus on most days (weather permitting), I walk the girls at least one mile.
I weighed myself the day school began, and will weigh myself each Friday going forward to monitor any weight gain. I am too vain to post what my actual weight is, but I am happy to report that by some miracle, I lost 2.4 pounds in the past two weeks. This will probably be the only time during the next several months that I will be able to say that, so allow me to gloat a little! I’m hoping that by posting the change in my weight each Friday it will help motivate me not to gain so much. Stay tuned!!
