I was nervous to step on the scale this morning, particularly since I ate half of a pepperoni pizza last night… but by some miracle I weighed the exact same as I did last week. Therefore, after three weeks of school, my net weight change is still negative 2.4 pounds. My only guess as to why I haven’t gained any weight (yet) is the difference of being on my feet most of the day at school, versus sitting around at home or working an office job. Plus I definitely lugged a few 25 pound bags of flour and sugar this week, and cleaning the kitchen and mopping floors is hard work!
My 33rd birthday is coming up on January 23, and we are having a little celebratory birthday dinner this weekend with some friends who live nearby because no one wants to go out in DC with all of the inaugural activities taking place. We are making a beef tenderloin with horseradish sauce, crispy brussels sprouts, parmesan roasted potatoes, and bacon mac and cheese. And because I wanted to practice a little of my pastry skills (overachiever), I am also making gougéres with cheese. For dessert, I had to think about this long and hard, but I decided to go with Profiteroles Glacée with Chocolate Sauce – a puff pastry filled with vanilla bean ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce… happy early birthday to me! We will see if my weight remains the same after this epic meal…
