Our friends Susan and Paul got married this past weekend on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Susan and I became fast friends when we met on a fundraising trip to the central California wineries several years ago.
The wedding reception took place at the Tidewater Inn in downtown Easton, MD. The weather was great and the cocktail hour was held on the outdoor patio. When the bride and groom made their appearance, they were escorted by their spaniel pup Charlie, who was sporting a light pink ribbon around her neck for the occasion! The dinner took place indoors in a beautiful room full of flowers and candles.
To start, at each table we had flatbreads with an assortment of spreads, including white bean and rosemary, olive tapenade, and balsamic tomato. We were served a garden salad with roasted walnuts, crumbled blue cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette. Dinner was a duo of porcini crusted pork tenderloin and crab cake, accompanied by what may have been the best mashed potatoes I have ever eaten – seriously!
The wedding cake was beautiful and a red velvet and funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. It was a simple decoration on the cake, which is all you can really do with buttercream, but very elegant and made even more beautiful with the strategic placement of pink flowers.
In addition to the cake, the couple had selected their favorite candies for a candy bar that guests could enjoy.
One of my favorite touches was at each seat, there was a cookie decorated to look like their dog Charlie – pink ribbon included! My friend Beth at I Heart Butter did all of the cookies for the wedding, and they turned out to be such a cute favor.
Overall, the wedding was absolutely beautiful and full of personal touches. Chris and I were honored to be part of the special day and wish Susan and Paul well as they begin the next chapter in their lives together!
